- Songs You Thought You Knew (April 11 and 12) - $350
- Every song has several accepted performance possibilities. Sometimes due to different lead sheets, sometimes due to artist interpretations. In this class, we will explore those different possibilities for several tunes and discuss how to analyze those versions so you, as a performing artist, can refine your approach to standard repertoire. You will learn how to define the composer's intent and use various versions to fashion your approach to the song. We will have some tunes preselected for study and students will be asked to bring in tunes that they would like to research on the 2nd day of class. Tuition includes a copy of the book "Songs You Thought You Knew".
- The Music of Henry Mancini (May 16 and 17) - $350

- The Music and Lyrics of Sammy Cahn (June 13, 14) - $350
- Sammy Cahn was one of the most celebrated lyricists of the Great American Songbook era, winning four Academy Awards for Best Original Song — more than any other lyricist of his generation. His most enduring partnerships were with composers Jule Styne and Jimmy Van Heusen, and his decades-long collaboration with Frank Sinatra produced some of the era's most iconic songs. Cahn was a master of conversational lyricism — his words fit a singer's natural speech rhythms. In this class, we will focus on the tunes he wrote with various writers. Here are a few:, "Teach Me Tonight", "I Should Care", "Pete Kelly's Blues", "Day by Day", "Time after Time" and many more. The class will be supported by a live trio.

Songs You Should Know
A 6-Part Instrumental Series
Every serious jazz player has a list of tunes they should know — and this is that list. Songs You Should Know is a six-part weekend intensive series working through 100 essential jazz standards that belong in every player's repertoire.
Each session tackles 12–15 tunes spanning a wide range of tempos, styles, and complexity. We go deep — exploring the theory behind each song, learning to hear the changes (and the alternate changes), and developing real improvisational and stylistic ideas. But the heart of this series is memorization. Because knowing a tune means knowing it — no charts, no shortcuts.
Whether you're an intermediate player building your book or an advanced player tightening it up, this series will challenge and inspire you. Come ready to work, and leave with music that's truly yours.
